One-of-a-Kind 1957 Chevrolet Pickup with 650 HP Heads to Auction

Aone-of-a-kind 1957 Chevrolet pickup truck dubbed "QuikSilver" is heading to auction at the Barrett-Jackson 45th Anniversary auction in Scottsdale, Arizona in January. The award-winning custom truck was named Best of Show at the 2014 Barrett-Jackson Cup Championship, was named to the Great 8 at the 2013 Autorama show, and also received the Mother's Choice Award at the 2013 SEMA show.1957 Chevrolet QuikSilver Custom Pickup Truck Side Profile
To transform a standard 1957 Chevrolet pickup truck into Quiksilver, the team at Oklahoma's Hot Rod Garage spent five years rebuilding the car. Under the hood is a 540-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Chevrolet V-8 engine with electronic fuel injection and a claimed 650 hp. A unique dashboard sits inside the truck's cabin, along with custom gauges, a new steering wheel, and one-off pedals. The bench seat was upholstered from 10 hides of Mercedes leather. Other neat details include shaved door handles, LED taillights, a two-tone paint job, a one-off front grille design, and custom red-painted suspension with a limited-slip differential.
While no price has been listed for Quiksilver when it heads to auction, expect its extensive list of modifications and its long list of awards to help push bidding higher. For more on the 1957 Chevrolet pickup truck, read a full profile story by our colleagues at Hot Rod.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro gets rendered

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Render (3)
The next-generation 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is expected to debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January next year. Till then, let these renderings quench the thirst. The new Camaro will be based on GM’s lighter, scalable Alpha platform which will ensure that the car becomes significantly lighter and hence, more agile, as well as end up being narrower. The car currently rides on a shortened version of GM’s Zeta architecture that underpins larger sedans like the Chevrolet SS and the Caprice.

These renders, done by one chazcron on camaro6.com forums, hints at a faster roof-line than the current Camaro’s, and evolutionary front and rear ends, which will be unmistakably Camaro-esque. The quad exhaust outlets indicate that there will be a V-8–powered SS model, but the ZL1-style split-spoke wheels and the possible presence of a decklid spoiler could point to an even higher-performance variant.

As for the drive-trains, the  current V-6 and V-8 engine choices should stay, but a turbocharged four-cylinder could join the options list to give Chevrolet ammunition against the EcoBoost Mustang. It is also expected that the latest, fifth-generation small-block V-8 from the Corvette and Silverado will replace the current Camaro’s 6.2-liter LS3 engine. An old-school, manual transmission option will be there for the purists to row, while others will have to do with GM’s eight-speed automatic box.
