Mahindra TUV300 Review

Overview

Mahindra has coined a new term into the automobile industry with its U301 compact SUV named as the TUV300. TUV stands for ‘Tough Utility Vehicle’ and the truth behind the name could only be revealed after official launch and testing procedures are over. The compact SUV is said to be based on Bolero, the best-selling SUV of India. It comes with a similar, yet updated design, which feels more upmarket and advanced.
The exterior of the car comes heavily camouflaged in every picture, yet its official drawing make the fact sure that it’s an updated Bolero in a smaller package. The trend behind the compact SUV styling has a reason which points clearly at the new generation. They wish every luxury but put a limit on the size wherever possible. The thinking is practical as the roads are not equivalent to the amount of traffic increasing day by day. The same concept goes into the TUV300. The aggression in the design has gone up according to the need and the restriction in size has also managed to impress the well-wishers of the product. The exterior will get a lot of chrome as a car without chrome seems less flashy to the people.
The interior on the other hand seems to be normal yet fully functional on this new comer. It comes with a decent black finish all over the dashboard. The steering wheel seems odd to the combination but the list of features are pretty much attractive. The TUV300 is seen with an infotainment system, whose screen seems to be a small 5 inch unit. The player provides separate slots for USB and AUX at the bottom. The seats are Beige colored, pointing to the dual tone interior for the car. Power window switches have been oddly placed in the center console.
The engine has not yet been fully disclosed but the badge being shown in the picture states the engine to be a new unit, named mHawk 80. The power and torque figures would surely beat the Bolero as weight of the car would be significantly low than the Bolero. The transmission is expected to be a 5-speed manual unit. It can have ABS, EBD and airbags as optional or standard in the top-most variant. The suspension and braking systems would be disclosed later by the company.
From all the above points it is clear that the car would be a pure utility vehicle and its sub 4 meter size would permit it to be below many current offerings. The factors like interior spacing and quality would highly affect its image as most of the modern cars are very good at these. The price figure is expected to be around INR 7.0-7.5 lakh the fully loaded trim
