Land Rover Discovery Sport India Launch on September 2! [Bookings Open]
The upcoming Land Rover Discovery Sport has been confirmed for launch in India this year. The Freelander 2 replacement has been on sale in international markets, and very soon will replace the Freelander in India. The Discovery Sport will be assembled at JLR’s facility in Pune and will be imported in the CKD form. Production has reportedly already begun and Land Rover has opened bookings officially as well. When launched, the Discovery Sport will replace the Freelander 2 as the cheapest entry level offering in India. The new Discovery Sport will be a more modern offering than its predecessor loaded with tech and safety features. The design has also evolved and is more in line with Land Rover’s current design language. The SUV will also be the only one in its segment to offer a 5+2 seating arrangement. However, the rear bench is expected to be very small and might turn out to be very uncomfortable for two full-size adults.

Launch
Land Rover will launch the Discovery Sport on 2nd September 2015. This date coincides with the beginning of the festive season in India, a favourite time for manufacturers to launch new products. The Jaguar-Land RoverDealers have officially started accepting booking for the new SUV.Price
Pricing will be similar to the competition at around INR 45-50 lakhs (ex-showroom). In India, the Discovery Sport will compete with the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60.Specs
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is built on the same platform and basics as the Range Rover Evoque. The car comes in a 7 seater and a 5 seater option both with a lot of boot space. The new integral multilink rear suspension has allowed for the engineers to give the car the 5+2 seating option. The car will be offered with a 2.2 litre diesel engine in two different states of tune- 147 bhp and 187 bhp. Transmission will be a 9-speed automatic gearbox along with a 4-wheel drive system. The 2.0 litre Ingenium diesel engine developed by Jaguar-Land Rover sold in Europe could also be made available.Features
