SPIED – Mahindra XUV 500 Facelift Images and Details

What we have here on this page today could be the first-ever image of the highly speculated Mahindra XUV 500 facelift! This spy image, which was recently published by ExhaustVid on its Facebook page, shows a white XUV 500 with some camouflage at the rear. In all chances, the Mahindra XUV 500 is about to get some changes in the styling of its rear-end and our guess is that the popular SUV’s tailgate will soon get some chrome around its license-plate housing. Currently, the XUV comes with a black-finished registration plate enclosure.

It is being said that other than getting a slightly updated tailgate, the XUV will also get a new design for the alloy rims and a revised front-end, which would carry an updated grille, redesigned foglamp enclosures and some more chrome. Even on the inside, the car could get some changes in the form of an upholstery change and a revised dashboard. The car could also get a handful of additional features.
Mechanically though, the XUV is expected remain largely the same. Powering the Mahindra XUV 500 is a a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that comes mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine has a max power output of 140 bhp @ 3750 rpm and a peak torque of 330 Nm between 1600 and 2800 rpm. In all probability, these figures will be left untouched. However, it would be only safe to assume that the boffins at Mahindra and Mahindra would tweak the gear ratios for optimizing the XUV’s fuel economy.  While the power figures might be left unchanged, the fuel efficiency could be enhanced slightly by tweaking the gear ratios. Also, the XUV is expected to get an automatic transmission for the top-end W8 4WD variant.

Expected Launch  Date, Price

Our guess is that the XUV 500 facelift launch will take place soon after the advent of the next financial year. The price of the updated flagship Mahindra SUV could remain largely the same as that of the current model.
