Maruti S-Cross: EcoSport & Duster Rival Spied Testing

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming crossover was caught testing again this time on the NH8 near the company’s production facility in Manesar, Haryana. The Maruti S-Cross hatchback-SUV crossover is expected to hit showrooms early next year at an estimated price of Rs. 13-14 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Maruti S-Cross pictured here looks to be in its final stage of testing. Based on the SX4 hatchback, this crossover is already on sale in Europe where it replaced the SX4 hatchback but the Indian version will be a little different in terms of certain design features and engines.

As per latest spy pictures, the interiors of the S-Cross Indian versions are almost the same at the European version. There are hardly any visual differences, there maybe slight feature changes, but the final version of S-Cross to launch in India will have interiors somewhat like the image below:

Expected design features:
  • Front grille with grey horizontal slats
  • Large projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights
  • Silver scuff plates
  • Chrome surrounds for fog lamps
  • Wing mirror mounted indicators
  • Chrome door handles
  • Functional roof rails
  • 16 inch alloys
  • Plastic body cladding
The interiors will mostly be similar to the ones seen on earlier spy shots and the car is expected to be way more spacious than the Ford EcoSport which it should be if it plans to take on the Renault Duster and Mahindra XUV500. The car might also get Suzuki’s AllGrip all wheel drive system which will lend the car good off roading capabilities although, most customers might not factor that in while making a decision and might opt for proper SUVs like the Duster and XUV500 instead of a hatchback-SUV crossover such as the Maruti S-Cross.

The engine line-up hasn’t bee confirmed yet but expect some or all of these engines on offer
  • 1.6 litre petrol producing 120 bhp
  • 1.6 litre diesel producing 120 bhp
  • 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel producing 92 bp
  • 1.4 litre petrol producing 94 bhp
The Maruti S-Cross will be interesting addition to the company’s Indian line-up and it’ll be interesting to see how the car performs in the compact SUV space before the XA Alpha mini SUV is launched. The competition will be tough in the form of the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra XUV500.
