Maruti Compact SUV Leaked- To Rival EcoSport, Launch In 2016
Based on the 2015 Suzuki Vitara, Maruti’s compact SUV for India, which will rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, has been leaked with some camouflage pattern on the body of the car. Codenamed YBA, Maruti Suzuki India engineers are working day in and day out to bring it to Indian roads as fast as possible. However, besides best efforts, this compact SUV will take time to hit Indian roads and the debut is likely at the 2016 Auto Expo only.
Some interesting facts about this car includes that it will be a sub-4 meter car in length and hence will benefit from the small car excise bracket. Also it is largely based on the exterior design of the 2015 Suzuki Vitara global model (pictures in the sections below) so it may also be launch globally in markets like India which includes Brazil and China where compact SUVs are as hot as they are in India. The Maruti YBA compact SUV for India features a bold front design, a two row 5 seats arrangement with large wheels, long wheelbase, large boot space and high ride height. There is masculine stance posed by this car besides being sub-4 meter in length. It will also feature a tail-gate mounted spare wheel just like we see in the EcoSport. A mount for the same can be clearly seen in the leaked picture below.
The company has not revealed much about the 2015 Suzuki Vitara apart from a single image. The C-SUV may be given a different name as Maruti already sells the 2007 Vitara in India, albeit very few of them. Maruti could also discontinue the current Vitara and bring in the new SUV in its place, priced much more aggressively though.
